Playing his second Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Els, as a 24-year-old, turned the Majlis course into his personal playing ground, shooting a sizzling 61 in the opening round, a course record that stands to this day.
Daily tickets for the four-day main competition, starting on February 4, are priced at Dh 175. A season pass, which provides access all week, including the Pro Am day, is available for Dh 675.
Since 1989 the tournament has seen 21 different winners from 12 different nations.
Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson will take part in the new GolfBoarding challenge at Abu Dhabi's ocean-front Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
